The Pentyrch Open Gardens AGM was held last Autumn.
The Open Gardens weekend raised a net income of £3,249, an increase of 24% on the previous year. Net income from other sources amounted to £1,057.
Our nominated charity for 2017 was City Hospice (formerly George Thomas Hospice Care) and they received half of the net income raised on the Open Gardens Weekend. We were pleased to present a cheque of £1,624.75 to the City Hospice and were delighted to learn that The Hodge Foundation match funded this amount.
Grant application had been invited for projects which benefit or enhance the community or environment of Pentyrch. It was decided at the AGM that sufficient funds had been raised to meet all applications in full.
The grants awarded were:
£400 to Pentyrch Bowling Club to rebuild their ditch wall.
£500 to St Catwg’s Church to help with funding for railing at the South Door.
£400 to Pentyrch Village Hall for garden maintenance
£600 towards the purchase and installation of a World War I commemorative bench.
£1,500 of funds have been set aside for plating/upkeep of the planters around the village.
The 2018 Open Gardens weekend will be on 30th June and 1st July.
