Merry Christmas from Pentyrch Open Gardens and thank you for all the support we have received during 2018.
Another successful Open Gardens Weekend was held this summer with a number of new gardens opened. The weekend attracted a total of 299 visitors to the gardens.
Our nominated charity for 2018 was the Welsh Air Ambulance who received half of the net income raised on the Open Gardens Weekend. We were pleased to present a cheque of £1,484.74 to them. This amount represents the cost of one call out for the Welsh Air Ambulance which is funded solely by voluntary donations.
Grant application had been invited for projects which benefit or enhance the community or environment of Pentyrch.
The grants awarded were:
£300 to Pentyrch Bowling Club to replace their sprinkler system.
£500 to St Catwg’s Church towards pollarding trees in the the churchyard.
£350 to Pentyrch Community Council towards the purchase of the final war memorial bench.
2019 is the 20th anniversary of the start of Pentyrch Open Gardens and we hope to have a bumper year with new gardens and hopefully some of the original gardens opening.
The Open Gardens Weekend will take place on the 6th and 7th July and our chosen charity will remain the Welsh Air Ambulance.
